Be among the first to explore the new and rapidly expanding world of Brain Computer Interface (BCI) application development! If you have an idea for a game or application that involves the mental state of the user, then read on!
Here’s how it works: Normal brain activity occurs when neurons in the brain fire electrical signals to one another. As these electrical signals travel between neurons, electric potentials fluctuate on the surface of the skin. The NeuroSky MindSet measures these fluctuations and uses proprietary algorithms to decipher the type of mental activity.
The raw electrical measurements, calculated brainwave levels, and interpreted mental states (such as Attention and Meditation) are converted into digital numbers for computers, software, and programs.
What this means to developers is that their computers and software programs can now get information about a person’s brainwaves and mental state in real time and can create innovative, exciting new software applications as games, health or educational training based on the user’s brainwaves and mental state. All of this is made possible through the MindSet, the MindSet Development Tools (MDT) and access to the NeuroSky Store. At the NeuroSky Store you can submit your own applications for the NeuroSky MindSet to be sold to others.*¹
The MDT provides the drivers, API, documentation, and examples you’ll need to write your own programs. The API is designed to make it quick and easy for you to retrofit existing games to add BCI capabilities, or to create entirely new, never-before-seen games based on brainwaves and mental states.
NeuroSky ThinkGear™ components correspond with our single neural dry sensor technology for consumer applications. All NeuroSky ThinkGear™ components are embedded with the eSense™ algorithm library of mental state translations. These algorithms output values range from 0—100 representing modeled levels of given mental states, such as focus and relaxation.
